SURKOS, Karen Susan Surkos

SURKOS, Karen Susan – It is with great sadness that we announce Karen’s sudden passing at Trillium Hospital after a prolonged illness on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at the age of 54.

Karen is now reunited with her late parents John and Diane Surkos.

Beloved mother to Daniel Keith Mines and Deanna Mary Mines and loving sister to Debora and John (Marcella).  Cherished niece of Donna, Peggy and Linda (Mike) and missing her “rubby-dubs” is her cat Mabel.

Karen was born and raised in Mississauga before spending years in Sudbury where she was a full time mother and operated her own cleaning company.  Eventually returning to Mississauga; she faced many health concerns but fought every battle with a positive and determined outlook.

She loved to play bingo and could often be found blotting her attack and yelling her favourite saying “Bingo” at her favourite hall which is just a bit quieter now without her. She also loved food and enjoyed a good meal surrounded by those she loved. Most important though were her children Deanna and Daniel who meant the world to her. Her children are each thankful for the resilient mindset she taught them and have no doubt they will be able to persevere though any future life adversity thrown at each of them.

Karen will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

A memorial service will take place in the Magnolia Chapel of St. John’s Dixie Cemetery (737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga) on Saturday, July 8th at 2:00 pm. Due to the COVID social gathering mandate, only pre-designated guests should be in attendance.

Family and friends are invited to view the service by Zoom. Details can be found through Tranquility burial services.

Flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations to Lupus Ontario would be kindly appreciated.
